A Man With Integrity, as told by an average Ethiopian, is a real world account of the daily life of middle-class Ethiopians. It is a book rich in the author's childhood impressions of her surroundings, including descriptions of her family, her neighbors, and the various ethnic cultures of Ethiopia among which her family lived. The book is a personal account of the life of a middle class Ethiopian family over a period spanning two generations, as guided by her father, A Man with Integrity. Books written by Ethiopians are rarely autobiographical or written in the vernacular. Haymanot's book is unique in this regard as it is a first hand account, written in the first person.
